INSTRUMENT #1 (TELESCOPE) - INSTRUMENT #2 (WE DON'T LET THE DUST TO COLLECT)

2008 Paper and metal wire. Variable dimensions

Noi per adesso siamo qua curated by Lorenzo Bruni, Villa Romana, Firenze IT

Instrument #1 (Telescope) was installed inside the Kai Schiemenz's platform made for the Villa Romana garden. The paper sculpture is a telescope without a real function nor a purpose, this fake instrument is the visible projection of an intention based on ephemeral possibilities to be used, being without lens and very fragile.

Instrument #2 (we don't let the dust collect) has a visual function that need to be activated by the public. It permits the viewer to follow the changes of sunlight's reflections through the transparent opacity of the paper, once the sunset’s descendent line results aligned perpendicularly to the instrument. Underlining the possibility to calculate the empirical distance between man's presence on the Earth with Sun.
