BEFORE THE NAME WILKINSON Gallery, London, UK with Jonathan Lahey Dronsfield, Emiliano Zelada, Pier Luigi Tazzi, Piedad Albarracin Sequier, Harry Alexander Before the name is a live performance/shooting inspired by La danse comme métaphore de la pensée (Dance as a Metaphor for Thought), part of the “Handbook of Inaesthetics”, written by the French philosopher Alain Badiou - Alberto Toscano (trans.), Stanford University Press, 2005. Badiou’s presence/absence in Francesca Banchelli’s performance embodies the desire to confront ourselves with one of the great living exponents of human thought through dance. Via the intensity of movement, sound and words, the happening/event questions the meaning of a collective action, by creating a minimal multilayered connection between artists, thinkers and the public. LIVESOUNDTRACK Capella MACBA Barcelona, A precious stone, performance by Francesca Banchelli. An undisclosed yet open dialogue between two presences that move inside the space, is ignited by the projection of slides and colored lights on various surfaces, as a language. The dialogue transforms itself into a non-narrative section, which make the public to convey in the creation of their own imaginative movies. Decomposing the idea and the body of the cinematographic machine, the performance aims at annihilate passivity, activating the perceptive sides. The stone cut, installation by Banchelli and Zelada, which derives from the performance. The projection of painted slides with the participation of sound, generate what is the container of the cinematographic idea, in which the public will create its own state of the narration. They will join forces once again in the live/performance Offset (dialogues), creating an imaginary movie through the use of sound, voice, painted dias, and other visual materials. Oscillating between hypnotic rhythms of the voice, musical textures and synchronized relations, TWIN DRIVE transforms the mental state of the action into a dialogue of signs, via the encounter of different contexts, conveying into a perceptive narration. Offset-Imaginary movies is a project by Francesca Banchelli and Emiliano Zelada curated by LiveSoundtracks, which includes three festivals in Barcelona: Mutek, Movistar LiveSoundtracks and Loop (Beyond the images: sound).
